Maria Huang
Environmental Specialist Intern
Maria Huang brings a wealth of experience in environmental science, policy, and project management. She began her MQ career as a Corporate Administrator, later serving as Fiscal Coordinator. She currently contributes to the MissionQuest in project coordination, offering expertise in public health, air pollution monitoring, environmental justice, and disaster resilience. She is also part of the Thriving Communities project, providing environmental science expertise on public health, environmental justice, air pollution monitoring and regulation, and disaster mitigation and resilience.
As the Director of Research at the Student Policy Institute at Berkeley, Maria oversees studies on renewable energy, sustainable development, sexual and reproductive health in Indigenous areas, immigration, and higher education funding. Her prior research, funded by the National Science Foundation at the University of Colorado, Boulder, explored maternal health in disasters. She has also worked with Sierra Club, Beyond Meat, and Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy. Currently training in Environmental Economics and Policy at UC Berkeley, Maria leverages her technical writing and interdisciplinary skills to drive impact across government, business, higher education, and nonprofit sectors.
